Candidate must hold a valid UGC-NET JRF, CSIR-NET JRF, or GATE percentile meeting the department admission cutoff for doctoral registration.
At the completion of 2 years as JRF, an institutional three-member assessment committee (including an external expert) evaluates the scholar's research progress. Upon positive recommendation, the fellowship is upgraded to SRF with higher stipend.
Fellows are entitled to maximum 30 days casual leave per year. Female scholars are entitled to up to 180 days paid maternity leave during the fellowship tenure.

Registrar / Dean of Academic Affairs verifies HRA claims and submits monthly payment batch.
